Omerta -The law of Silence

How often do we encounter situations in our lives where, no matter how many words we speak, lesser is the meaning it goes onto convey? How often have we decided to keep a smile on our facades just for the sake of supporting others in order to make another's life a little more bearable and happy?

All the excessive words if spoken would go meaningless in a situation where we keep speaking at length obliviously forgetting that nobody is actually paying a heed to it.

This might be a cliché, but it is a fact, needless to be proved. Behind each face, there is a heart. Behind each voice, there is a song. Behind each silence, there is a dream of something better.

No words spoken can be an answer to a question. Blankness can be a reply to a query. Space between stimulus and response needs to be widened for a better outcome, for a brave tomorrow. Silence between plethora and vacuum needs to be expanded for some eternal balance. Omerta, that is definitely omnipresent and omnipotent needs to be a law sincerely followed for a peaceful morrow.

Provoked Madness

Eagle eyed focus and tigerishly competitive spirit might be your forte since birth. Eternally Sported sportive spirit and tirelessly indefatigable character might be your cherished facades, unobtrusively bloomed since childhood. Amazingly magnificent attitude and unbiased logical reasoning might be your thoughtfully inhabited virtues since adulthood. But in reality all these accolades does vanish in a moment's madness when provoked upon ruthlessly indelible words or deeds. You react to an incident in a jiffy and satiate your boiling ego and in this process you end up acting in an action packed violent film which is enough for the media to hail you as infamously famous individual.

These acts that are acted upon impromptu goes onto debauchee a hero’s life and make him roam like a recluse for sometime. Nobody ever accepts that a hero is also a human being, only difference being that he was extra ordinary for sometime in his life. But otherwise a hero's life is filled with as many nice and not so nice adventures that criss-cross our lifes. These facts are seldom accepted by common men who live and die with their own unreasonable platitudes.

A person who is very highly disciplined and morally, ethically preached as a public icon cannot quench his thirst when provoked by a moment's madness. Once a person comes into public eye, he is no longer considered an individual. He attains god like stature, whom people deify and critics defy. Sleeping on a guitar like this even when strummed might not be the way a hero plays. He plucks when strummed and stays upon his feet when provoked and that is when he needs all our support to become a hero again. Zinedine zidane needs all our support at present.

First Skid from the Bike

After almost 2 months of passionate bike riding, on Saturday 08/07/06,I skidded from my bike for the first time at about 11.40 AM IST. After losing the cricket match on that morning, I was returning home while this skid happened to me and my bike.

Actually the ground is located in the interior of Guindy and since I was not quite sure of the way back to the main road, I was following my friend who was showing me the road to take. So I reduced my speed and allowed him to lead me, but every now and then, I speeded and enjoyed biking as usual.

But at one point, there was huge amount of sand spilled over the road and I had to brake in order to glide gracefully through the mud soaked path and this application of sudden brake on a sandy surface caused the vehicle to skid with a thud and it went in one direction and I went in another direction. It hurts a bit, not because your body gets hurt, but because the bike which you had bought with all your money, had earned rich scratches. We both came to a halt after a few seconds. I was blessed with a few scratches on the leg while the bike suffered slight scratches on the doom. Looking back at the incident, I feel happy that it happened on a traffic less road, I feel happy that it happened on a holiday and I feel happy that small things like this keeps happening to me and keeps my life so full of fun, laughter and adventures.

It’s a good learning from failures and falls. Every time you fall down, you learn 2 things from it. 1) How to get up faster. 2) How to avoid falling down in the same manner again. See, a fall is essential in every aspect of life just to create a balance between rise and fall. If you remember Kipling’s words in the famous poem "IF”, he says that "If you can meet with triumphs and disasters and treat those two impostors just the same, you will be a man.” Everybody should crave to follow his words and try becoming a man, probably a wounded man. Am talking about the physical wounds that we get because of a kiss from a rock or a stone and not those created from words, emotions or sentiments in any way. The former are called masculine wounds and the latter are called feminine. Masculine wounds have a time frame after which it heals to normalcy while the latter stays put till the day sun would rise from west(Am sure this will happen in sometime from now). The question is -- which kind of wound to choose? Answer is pretty simple and I needn’t say.

Difficult to be a Hero

Just wondering how difficult it is to be a hero. Maybe it takes a few extra-ordinary efforts to be called one, but it does take a life time of extra-ordinary deeds to maintain that hero status for a life time. Everything goes out fine once and everybody hails you at that point of time and hence the amount of expectation rises to its so called god level thereby making one’s life all the more difficult to live.

Was amazed by the way FedEx and Nadal played in the final of Wimbledon 2006.Must say that I have got a special respect for both of them who are excelling at the age of 24 and 20 respectively. There is a huge lesson to be learnt from these people who are dedicated and focused to the core. FedEx has equaled Sampras’ record of 4 consecutive Wimbledon crown and next year's win would equal him with JBorg’s record and from then on its goanna be FedEx’s world though he has to be fit enough to surpass Sampras’ 14 titles. But I believe that nadal has got the talent and tenacity to stop FedEx from achieving the insuperable.

This world cup has seen a lot of heroes not living up to their expectations. Ronaldineo, Ronaldo, van nisterlooy, Carlos, Henry, beckam are just a handful of them. All the players who excel at their club level do not perform as much at the international level and hence this raises a lot of questions about the team commitment and their egos. Zidane spoiled everything in the end by head-butting matterazi during the extra time. If he had stayed, chances are that we would have seen a different result.

Hero's life is a difficult one. To live with the dedication and focus for a lifetime is a magic that few people go on and execute well, but others get swayed and get veered off track thereby yielding humbly to the distractions that's stumbled upon them. These days, a hero is not judged by his performance but rather by the looks that deceive, the color that is fair, by the style that is fake and by the simulation that is unoriginal. Just wondering when these things are goanna change.
